HECTOR BRAVO - FROM WAR, TO PRISON, TO FREEDOM | BADASS EP # 1
In this episode we meet our first badass guest, Hector Bravo a former Army Combat Veteran and Correctional Officer and now Public figure with a youtube channel "That Prison Guard". Where Hector shares with us his never before told story from growing up in Glamis, CA and his bouts with engaging in delinquent behavior that would guide him to at the time was a way to escape a place with no opportunities of joining the Army. Little did he know as a young adolescent what he was about to get into when deployed overseas to the middle east post 9/11. During his deployment we hear about his traumatic experiences of war and the loss of a brother. This trauma he endured reshaped his interest with staying in the Army and therefore lead to him not rein-listing but rather closing that chapter and pursuing another interest in law-enforcement in the California Department of Corrections and truly where his real war would begin. Just when you thought his story had reached a dark place, he shares his battle with Alcoholism, P.T.S.D. and Survivor's Guilt and the toll it took on him and his loved ones. The road to recovery was a realization and absolute must after some incidents that were intolerable. Throughout Hector's recovery and new world of working in corrections and enduring the loss of a close family member, he soon found a new light and path to become the badass he is today.
